When to go
Any season can be a good time to vist, each one having its own specific charm. Leisure, sports and outdoor activities can be enjoyed all year round. The same can be said for the festivals, markets and fiestas, either in Bilbao or in the surrounding areas. During the third week in August, Bilbao comes into its own with the fiestas of Semana Grande (Main Week). Numerous events and celebrations are held throughout the day and night, the highlight for most being a half-hour long fireworks display held every evening prior to an all night long street party.
