What to wear
The close proximity to the sea provides moderate (average 12.5° C) and fairly constant temperatures throughout the year. However, rain can appear suddenly and in any season. Sometimes, rain can fall in very fine, almost pulverised drops known as “sirimiri”. Therefore a light raincoat is recommended. Another peculiar aspect of Bilbao´s weather is the sharp rise in temperature produced by the occasional burst of southern wind, specially during the summer months. And don´t forget your swimsuit, as there are many beaches close-by, easily accessible by Metro.
