Open-air spaces


Parque Etxebarria
This park is eqquipped with skateboarding areas, cycle lanes, ball games, etc. It is located behind the City Hall towards the Begoña area. During the Summer it is the site for the visiting fairground attractions.


Parque de Doña Casilda
Bilbao´s original park has a pond area with different birds, and basket ball courts, table tennis, cycling and jogging lanes. In addition, it has a recreational area for under-12´s. On Spring Sundays there are many organized activities for this age group.


Parque Europa
Large green area orientated to practicing sports, it also has a sports complex. The Metro station is near-by (Basarrate).


Parque Artxanda El Vivero
Located in Monte Artxanda, it is a good family picnic site, offering football areas, fronton courts, and games area for petanque, etc. Accessible by either road or cable car.


Parque de Deusto
Small green area by the river, with two different areas: the skate and hockey area, and the swings area for the youngest. Nice views of Euskalduna and Abandoibarra.


Plaza Nueva
Although not a green area, this enclosed square is an enjoyable and safe area for children to play in.


Zona de Abandoibarra
A newly pedestrianised area, is ideal for a long stroll by the river, all the way from Euskalduna to the Arenal. It has many sculptures along the way, and a safe swings and fountains area next to the Guggenheim.


Campo Volantín
On the other side of the river from Abandoibarra, towards the Arenal end, it is a pleasant and quiet swings tree-lined area.


Arenal
A traditional green area right in the centre of Bilbao. On Sundays, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao perform lively concerts for all audiences. The Arenal is the epicentre of all major festive events.
